Best acne products - oral or topical?

When you are trying to clear up acne, do you go for topical treatments (applied to the infected skin) or oral treatments (swallowed)? What are the best acne products to use? Does one acne product work better than another one?

Almost every acne product will be either antibiotic based or bactericidal based, and each one is best suited to particular types of acne. If you are trying to clear up a mild case of acne then the bactericidal products are probably going to be better for you. These will pinpoint the bacteria that is causing the acne and eliminate it.

If you have a severe case of acne and have very inflammed spots then you would probably be better off with an antibiotic product as this will get rid of any bacteria it comes across, and will start to work from within your body rather than just on the skin itself.

Generally the bactericidal products are applied onto your skin directly, and these will come in either lotion or cream form. Antibiotics on the other hand are taken orally to allow them to get to work at clearing your acne from within your body rather than from the outside. Of course there is no reason why you are not able to use both types of acne products together.

So is there any way to confirm which acne product is best? To be honest not really, depending on the severity of your acne you are best to go with the product that suits. Many people just do not like to take anything orally and therefore prefer to use the topical creams and lotions that are available.

If your acne is really severe, then a visit to your physician could be a good idea, as they are able to prescribe medications and creams that are much stronger than those you can buy over the counter.
